Polenta with milk
Super easy
Cheap
It's polenta with milk a warm and nutritious dish of corn grits cooked in milk until creamy — a traditional meal that warms from the inside, fills you up and is made in 15 minutes from ingredients you always have in the house. Kitchen without polenta with milk is not real kitchen.

Bojana always Stir the polenta continuously for the first 3 minutes of cooking — cornmeal placed in hot milk without stirring immediately falls to the bottom and burns. Burnt polenta smells burnt and that smell cannot be hidden or repaired. Constant stirring for the first few minutes until the semolina is absorbed makes the difference between creamy and burnt polenta.

Ingredients

For 4 PERSON Serving size 1 portion = 1 deep plate

Ingredients:

1000 ml whole milk
150 g corn grits (polenta)
30 g butter
salt to taste

Polenta with milk Directions

  1. Heat the milk in a pot with gentle stirring until it boils.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium, slowly pour in the corn grits, stirring constantly.
  3. Cook, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes until the semolina is absorbed and the polenta thickens.
  4. Add butter and salt, mix for another minute until smooth, creamy mass.
  5. Remove from heat, cover and leave to rest for 2 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately in deep plates, sprinkled with sugar or cheese to taste.

Notes

Stir non-stop for the first 3 minutes — the semolina at the bottom burns and spoils the whole pan.
Pour semolina slowly in a thin stream — sudden pouring creates lumps that do not break apart.
Butter at the end — butter added during cooking evaporates, added at the end gives creaminess and shine.
Serve immediately — the polenta thickens and becomes rubbery when cooled, it is creamy when warm.
